Always Trust Your Cape –DeMarco Banter

Had a pretty rough day a while ago… and my lovely bride came to me and said…“I have a song for you.”

The simple song made my day… and then of course I have to ponder why?

Superhero complex: one in which a person’s intrinsic desire is to help people or the world be better?

Or perhaps it is more along the lines of Erwin McManus’s thoughts….There is a hero within you waiting to be awakened. Some were born to be the hero of a story of epic proportions, others perhaps the hero for one small child sponsored across an ocean. Both require a hero’s soul and have a hero’s call. While you can’t do everything, you were created to do something of incredible importance. The tragedy is if you try to be everything and do everything, you may so diffuse your effect that you will not optimize who God made you to be and what he created you to accomplish. This is why you need convergence. You need to bring together all of your talents, gifts, passions, intellect, energy, time, and resources and harness them in such a way that you focus on the mission God has given you for your life.

Powerful stuff…
Or maybe I should just enjoy Eric Bibb’s piece of art….

Either way….. I do find myself repeating...”Always trust your cape…”

Enjoy, hope it makes your day….better…
And…oh… Thank you Sundie Lark…I love you…

Eight years old with a floursack cape
Tied all around his neck
He climbed up on the garage
Figurin’ what the heck
He screwed his courage up so tight
The whole thing came unwound
He got a runnin’ start and bless his heart
He headed for the ground

He’s one of those who knows that life
Is just a leap of faith
Spread your arms and hold your breath
Always trust your cape

All grown up with a floursack cape
Tied around his dreams
He was full of spit and vinegar
He was bustin’ at the seams
He licked his finger and he checked the wind
It was gonna be do or die
He wasn’t scared of nothin’ boys
And he was pretty sure he could fly

He’s one of those who knows that life
Is just a leap of faith
Spread your arms and hold your breath
Always trust your cape

Old and grey with a floursack cape
Tied all around his head
He’s still jumpin’ off the garage
Will be till he’s dead
All these years the people said
He’s actin’ like a kid
He did not know he could not fly
So he did

He’s one of those who knows that life
Is just a leap of faith
Spread your arms and hold your breath

Always trust your cape
