Another piece I came across during some morning reading and reflection… there really are two types of leaders:
1) Leaders that are about the greater good–These leaders intrinsically attract other leaders
2) Leaders that are about personal power–These leaders, at best, will attract followers
(some point there will be more on “greater good and personal power” still pulling on that one)
People who attract and team up only with followers will never be able to do anything beyond what they can personally touch and supervise. Look for leaders who attract other leaders. They will multiply success.
LEADERS WHO ATTRACT FOLLOWERS…
– Need to be needed
– Want recognition
– Focus on others’ weaknesses
– Spend their with others
– Experience some success
LEADERS WHO ATTRACT LEADERS…
– Want to be succeeded
– Want to reproduce themselves
– Focus on others’ strengths
– Invest their time in others
– Experience incredible success
In the long run, one can only lead people who’s leadership ability is less then or equal to your own (others will leave, get bored, decline in ability). To keep attracting better and better leaders, YOU (I) will have to keep learning, improving, developing your own(my) leadership ability
